Critical Project Services was asked to review the progress of the Tianjin data center development in October 2011. CPS’ first action was to understand the MEP design (Peer Review) and implement a more efficient Tier III electrical design strategy that has resulted in +/- $4MM savings to the Owner. Since that point in late 2011, our role has expanded to overall Program Management of design, equipment procurement, onsite construction management team and commissioning services procurement.
CPS has worked with a major U.S. based Architectural firm and a major U.S. based Engineering firm with mainland China operations to develop the design. CPS has assisted the Owner with concluding a long term agreement for TEDA to provide a Build-to-Suit shell to house the DC. Our Phase 1 program objectives and deliverables include:
As of January 2013, the building core and shell is heading toward completion. Utility power is targeting delivery to the site by the April. Critical equipment is in fabrication. The company for Commissioning has been contracted and is preparing testing procedures. CPS construction managers are onsite providing Quality Assurance and Management oversight. Design of the Phase 2 building has commenced. Upon the successful contract of a data center tenant, design and construction of the raised floor area will begin.
